M.C Escher was one of the most famous graphic artist just like some of his famous predecessors,- Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Dürer and Holbein. He created Sky & Water, which you can see below this paragraph. He also created China Boy  1936 and Strong Men 1936. Escher defined "tessellation" as "the regular division of a plane". Which he was completely right,its a surface cover by the same shape over and over again,without any gaps.


In 1937 Escher found Professor George Pólya in a German library in which Pólya laid seventeen possible patterns. Escher began to created beautiful tessellations with animals and people, instead of boring geometric figures such as triangles,squares and hexagons. That was one of the biggest contributions Escher made to tessellations.
